With just two weeks to go before the highly-anticipated Soweto Derby kicks off at FNB Stadium on 9 March, fans have been snatching up tickets in their numbers in order to avoid disappointment. This top of the table clash will see current logleaders Kaizer Chiefs host their arch rivals and reigning Absa Premiership champions Orlando Pirates at the world renowned FNB Stadium at 3:30pm.
Jacques Grobbelaar, Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) Chairman and CEO says a sellout for the Soweto Derby is on the cards.
“We have sold 71 239 tickets to date from a possible 79 000 Stand seats and there are still just under two weeks to go. Hospitality and suite tickets are also selling well so all indications are that we will host 90 000 fans come 9 March.”
Grobbelaar added, “the first leg of the Soweto Derby last December sold out a week before the match, so we’re urging fans to purchase their tickets because a last-minute rush could result in disappointment. There is immense interest in this game especially considering their league positions and the fact that this will be the last chance for their fans to see these sides face off after Pirates were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup this past weekend.”
Grobbelaar confirmed that the R10 tickets for scholars on Level 5 are sold out. Tickets are still available for Levels 5, 1 and 2 selling at R40, R60 and R150 respectively. A Premium Hospitality package costs R2 200 per person excluding VAT and includes a suite ticket, buffet meal, complimentary local bar, a parking ticket for four people and personalised service throughout the afternoon. A South Viewing Hospitality ticket costs R1 650 per person excluding VAT and includes a suite ticket, snack meal, beer, wine and soft drinks, a parking ticket for four people and personalised service throughout the afternoon. And for only R855 per person including VAT the Hisense suite ticket on the centre line of the West Stand offers a variety of alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and food available for purchase inside the facility.
