The Orlando Pirates Learning Centre recently hosted and launched Pearson’s SuccessMaker to 60 students and teachers from the neighbouring schools that are resident to the programs offered by the centre.

SuccessMaker is a “Personal Tutor Programme” to assist parents and children improve their child’s results and progress, anywhere, any time. The software is aligned to the curriculum stipulations as prescribed by the Department of Basic Education and will allow learners at The Centre to have access to the software at every class they attend. After 40 successful years in improving standards of education in England and the USA, South African learners got the chance to use the innovative computer software for the first time.

Learning Centre Manager, Jude Capel, said “We have the pleasure in introducing a fantastic education collaboration from Microsoft, Acer and Pearson’s SuccessMaker to all of our learners registered at The Centre this term. It is a great opportunity for South African learners to improve their skills in Maths and English, after the recorded differences that the software has made in the lives of learners in the UK and USA.”

Since opening its doors in October 2012, the Orlando Pirates Learning Centre has improved the education of more than 2500 learners from Soweto. On average, learners improve their Maths and English skills by 20-25percent, and with SuccessMaker those numbers are sure to increase a great deal.

Through the partnership with Acer for Education and Microsoft, The Centre will now offer SuccessMaker to all 300 registered learners this term, and will continue to be available to all learners who will walk through its doors in the future.
