Orlando Pirates will be out to make history when they face Egypt giants, Al Ahly, in their Caf Confederation Cup semifinal first leg clash at Orlando Stadium Sponsored by LaFarge on Saturday night (Kick Off: 6pm)
Tickets are available at R40 for adults and R10 for kids with hospitality packages also available across all Computicket outlets for this spectacle.
The Buccaneers aim to all but seal their passage through to the continental competition final with a convincing victory at the original Mecca of Football in their home clash before the daunting travel to Cairo for the return leg in a fortnight’s time.
“…I think that we’ve got a good chance to beat Al Ahly,” said coach Eric Tinkler. “It is important we score some goals at home and we don’t concede so that we take something there to protect. It’s a semi-final and I think if anything, it is going to be a tough encounter.”
Pirates, the 1995 African champions, also have a bone to pick with Al Ahly after losing to them in the Caf Champions League final two years ago. The Egyptians, who were voted the African club of the century over a decade ago, carry a formidable squad. However, Bucs have proven to have the capability of beating any opposition and had one over Al Ahly in Cairo during the group stages of the 2013 competition.
Tinkler: “It’s going back to 2013 when we played them. It’s payback time and it is something the players always wanted. Right at the beginning of this competition, they wanted to meet Al Ahly and now they’ve got that opportunity and they’ve got to come out and produce the goods.”
