Orlando Pirates will return to domestic action in another cup competition when they host University of Pretoria in their Telkom Knockout Last 16 tie at Orlando Stadium sponsored by LaFarge on Friday, 16 October (Kick Off: 8pm).

Tickets will cost R40 for adults and R10 for juveniles in the fixture to be played at the original Mecca of South African football, which is managed by Stadium Management SA.

The Buccaneers, whose gruesome CAF Confederation Cup campaign will now see them play in the tournament final next month, will now switch focus on claiming silverware as they focus on the a cup they have won once in the club’s glorious history back in 2011.

However, AmaTuks are plucky opposition and despite being near the bottom of the table in the league standings, are more than capable of causing an upset on the night.

The Eric Tinkler-coached Pirates outfit will enter the fray slightly refreshed after finding rare rest last weekend with stars like Happy Jele, Sifiso Myeni and Thabo Rakhale in tow.

While the side will strongly miss the distinguished influence of injured skipper Oupa Manyisa – the crafty Mpho Makola has proven to be a match winner for the side in recent times. Pirates will also miss the trio of Gift Motupa, Thabo Qalinge and Luvuyo Memela that will be doing Bafana Bafana duty in the African Nations Championship fixture against Angola at Rand Stadium on Saturday, 17 October.

Bucs have been runner’s up a record seven times in the Telkom Knockout trophy and were semifinalists in this competition last year losing to eventual winners, SuperSport United.
