Stadium Management SA (Pty) Limited Chief Executive Officer, Jacques Grobbelaar, bagged a top award when he was crowned with an international Manager of the year at the glitzy Europe Business Assembly (EBA) Socrates awards ceremony in London, England, on Tuesday night.

Grobbelaar was among a list of nominees where he was honoured for top class achievements in the year where Stadium Management SA (SMSA) again excelled with top class sporting and music events at venues under their management, namely FNB, Orlando, Dobsonville and Rand Stadiums in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan.

“Thank you to everyone. Our awards are made as a team from the heart with first world objectives in mind,” the elated stadium management expert said from London.

Grobbelaar was in London last November, where SMSA were honoured with the Business Initiative Directions (BID) Award for Excellency before he was commemorated with the Peace Ambassadorship award from the religious Universal Peace Federation in December.

SMSA also recently announced a five-year FNB Stadium venue naming rights with world leading bank, First National Bank (FNB), that stretches to a mammoth 30 year partnership with the facility.

There were words of congratulations, with the City of Johannesburg Department of Community Development MMC, Councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba, saying: “Congratulations Jacques, and well done for putting South Africa on the map.”

Meanwhile, there are a host of events at SMSA venues in the coming months starting off with Absa Premiership football fixtures as Kaizer Chiefs host African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium (Saturday, 1 April) and Orlando Pirates taking on Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium on 11 April.

Amakhosi will play their home match against Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium on 15 April.

At FNB Stadium, the Revelation Church of God will hold their Easter Weekend religious gathering on 14 April before the much anticipated Justin Bieber World Purpose Tour hits the Calabash-styled venue on 14 May.

Tickets for all events are available across Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers retail outlets around the country.
