The general public will be treated to plenty of festivities and activations when rugby marks its long anticipated return to Soweto with a massive double header as the Premier Social Cohesion Games – in a partnership between the Gauteng Provincial Government, the SA Rugby Union and Stadium Management SA (SMSA) – takes place at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 23 June.
Event tickets cost R20 each for scholars, R40 (Level 4) and R80 (Level 1) each across all Computicket (www.computicket.com) and Shoprite/Checkers retail outlets around the country.
The first treat will be the Beer Garden alongside the monumental eastern side of Orlando Stadium (from 12pm until 3pm) before fans enter the bowl seating area to be entertained by a variety of music acts.
Then it will be rugby action with the “home” return for the Vodacom Blue Bulls as they take on Jukskei rivals, the Xerox Golden Lions (Kick Off: 5pm), before the much-anticipated gruelling international fixture between the Springboks second team (South Africa A) and the French Barbarians (Kick Off: 8pm).
Orlando Stadium was the Blue Bulls home venue, where they were famously nicknamed the “Orlando Bulls” by the locals, on the way to SuperRugby triumph played in front of sold-out competition semifinal and final crowds, back in 2010.
The VIP experiences at the legendary township venue is also available with the Premium hospitality package costing R 1 750 excl. VAT through SAIL (www.sail.co.za).
Parking and public transportation opportunities will also be revealed to the public, including exclusive Park and Ride services from FNB Stadium.
It is the pre-fixture excitement in Tshwane and Soweto that will provide plenty of excitement for fans where they will have the opportunity of meeting their rugby heroes with coaching clinics, meet and greet opportunities as well as plenty of exclusive give aways in store for the month of June.
“This will be an epic month of rugby for the public,” said SMSA Chief Executive Officer, Jacques Grobbelaar.
“With rugby themed festivities around Tshwane and Soweto as well as two top class rugby fixtures on the day, we will ensure on an ultimate experience for all visitors coming that will join us.”
