Entries for the 24th Old Mutual Soweto Marathon opened on 30 March 2017 and are set to close on 30 June or once a total number of 25 000 entries over the three races is reached, whichever comes first.  The ever growing People’s Race is pleased to announce that more than half of the entries available have already been sold.

“I’m delighted with the progress thus far – it certainly goes to show you how the people love this race: it’s a highlight on the calendar of many,” says the Chairman of the Soweto Marathon Trust, Sello Khunou. “We’ve so many to thank, not least of all Old Mutual, the Gauteng Provincial Government, City of Jo’burg, SABC, Future Life, SASCOC, ASA and CGA – it’s a team effort in making this another successful event! I strongly urge those who haven’t yet entered to do so in order to avoid disappointment.”

Title sponsor Old Mutual urges all runners to tackle this unique event on the South African running calendar. “The Old Mutual Soweto Marathon is truly a special day of running,” says Old Mutual Head of Brand, Karen Thomas. “We are not surprised that the entries for the event are flying, as every year the word gets out that the Old Mutual Soweto Marathon is the marathon with heart. Although it’s only in November, now is the ideal time to enter to give yourself a goal to stay fit and healthy during the winter months. We look forward to welcoming all runners at the start line later this year.”

The race will take place on 5 November 2017 and will start and finish at the FNB Stadium, Nasrec, in Johannesburg. The organisers and sponsors of the race, Soweto Marathon Trust and Old Mutual respectively, once again promise runners and all participants a fantastic, fun-filled experience.
