The countdown to the seventh Carling Black Label Champion Cup match has officially begun with less than five days to the football spectacle. Supporters of both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have until midnight on Tuesday, 25 July 2017 to make their final formation and starting line-up selections for this year’s showpiece. Champion Coaches are encouraged to continue influencing the game by making their selection right up until the deadline date.

The traditional season opener between the two Soweto Giants has already sold out and is scheduled to kick off at 15:30 on Saturday, 29 July 2017.  Gates open at 11:30am in the morning and festivities will begin at a fan activation area, which encompasses activities such as the locker room experience, photo booths and a pre-match music extravaganza from the music bus hosted by renowned comedian, Mashabela Galane.

Two of South Africa’s biggest musical acts – Award winning Hip Hop sensation Kwesta and the ever entertaining, Dr. Malinga will give fans an energetic pre-match and half time show.

Additionally, the first 2000 adult consumers to arrive early on match day will receive complimentary beer vouchers (one voucher per eligible adult).

This is undoubtedly the biggest match in the country, as it provides our football loving fans with much-needed entertainment during the pre- season .” said Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) Chief Executive, Jacques Grobbelaar.

The much-anticipated performances from the country’s top entertainers will definitely make the overall fan experience even more memorable.”added Jacques Grobbelaar.

In the Carling Black Label Champion Cup; the fun does not just end with the fans influencing their starting line-up. They also need to remember that as Champion Coaches, they are responsible for making substitutions on match day by voting for the player they would like to introduce after the 55th minute.

Voting half time substitution opens at midnight on Saturday, 29 July and will remain open till the first 45 minutes of the match. Fans can make their selection by sending an SMS with the jersey number of the player they would like to see come off the bench and onto the field to the following numbers:

30043 (Kaizer Chiefs)  or 30044 (Orlando Pirates)

Game Day Logistics

There will be road closures around the FNB Stadium precinct with public transportation to and from the venue provided by Metrorail,  Top6 taxies, Rea Vaya and, KTK Shuttles.

Patrons not using public transport (the use of public transport is highly recommended) to travel to the venue are also encouraged to purchase parking tickets to official parking areas ranging between R40 for general parking areas to R 125 for premium parking areas and R330 for large busses) through the same channels.

Strict traffic-control measures by JMPD and Gauteng Traffic will be in operation immediately around the Stadium from 07h00 onwards

Help avoid traffic congestion – travel early to Stadium

General public (non-spectators) should avoid the Stadium precinct from 10:00 – 19:00 on Saturday, 29 July 2017. Your co-operation is appreciated

General public parking will ONLY be available at the Nasrec Expo Centre and Shareworld and all parking tickets will be sold via Computicket outlets.

The dedicated vehicular rout to the Stadium VIP, hospitality & public parking areas for this event are:

VIP & Hospitality Guests: via N1 and N17 off ramp

Physically challenged drivers: via N1 and N17 off-ramp

General Public:via N1 and Rand Show Road off-ramp (preferred); via M1 & Nasrec Road onto Rand Show Road General public must avoid N17 approach at all costs. This route will be heavily policed & will not be allowed to use this route. Road closures alternatively soft road closures at the following intersections (please see the attached precinct map):
