Hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest is hoping to make history once again by attempting to fill over 75 000 seats at FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Nyovest announced on social media that the show, which is a follow up to the #FillUpTheDome and #FillUpOrlandoStadium series, would be one that would make history, reports TimesLive.

The much-anticipated event is set for 2 December at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Nyovest revealed the date during an interview with US hip-hop radio personality DJ Charlamagne tha God.

“We are doing FNB Stadium, we are hoping for over 75 000 people. It’s probably going to be the biggest hip- hop concert in the world. We are still working on the lineup. Maybe you should come out and MC [he said to Charlamagne]. It’s going to be an amazing night,” he said.

Although he didn’t reveal too much, Nyovest did say he would be going for an African theme.

“I am building a set, but I don’t want to mess it up for people, but I am Mufasa [The Lion King character] basically. We have to take it back to Africa. I’ve done a floating stage, last year we had a lot of 3D elements, so this time we just want to take it back home. It’s going to be African-themed, the jungle, it’s going to be crazy,” he said.

Born and raised in Mmabatho, Nyovest has taken South Africa by storm and has established himself as one of the most sought-after performers on the local entertainment scene.

He recently signed a one-year deal to be a brand ambassador for premium vodka label Cîroc. Nyovest is predictably cagey about the exact figures involved, but it’s safe to say we’re talking seven digits.

The contract is the latest in a select portfolio of brand partnerships that has earned Nyovest a windfall. He’s been successful in cashing in on his massive public profile, which is built around his personal brand. But it hasn’t been about selling to the highest bidder. “It’s not just about the money,” he said in a previous interview with DESTINY.
