Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) would like to congratulate the South African Police Service (SAPS) for their arrest of a 40-year old subject on 20 October 2018 during a TELKOM Last 16 soccer match between Orlando Pirates FC and Chippa United FC at the Orlando Stadium. The man was arrested for selling counterfeit tickets to the match and was also found to be in possession of tickets for other events. The subject was sentenced on 19 May 2019. A second suspect was also arrested, and he will be attending a sentencing hearing on 22 July 2019.

SMSA has been working closely with the South African Police Service to eliminate the selling of counterfeit tickets to spectators. Tickets are not sold at any of SMSA’s stadiia to ensure spectator safety and to eliminate criminal activities.

SMSA would like to congratulate the SAPS on eliminating these criminal elements and ensuring the safety of spectators.
