On the 13th of May 2020, FNB Stadium will be lit up in the colours of the South African Flag. Like everyone else we are going through tough times but we want to send a message of hope and that ‘together as one’ we can get through this crisis.

The South African flag, is synonymous with all sports in our beautiful country and sport in the South African context is part of our DNA, it is a vital part of who we are, and the mood of the country can be influenced by the successes of our sportsmen and sportswomen on and off the field of sports. Nelson Mandela understood that sport had the immense power to unite people and bring us all together!

Bertie Grobbelaar, CEO of SMSA, “The South Africa flag will be displayed on the flag pole of the stadiums main entrance in the coming weeks as a symbol of unity, patriotism and hope and we encourage everyone to do the same with their flags at home. We stand by everyone in these tough times and this is an expression of solidarity with all South African fans and our Government as they lead us through this crisis, our belief is that sport really has the power to unite us all and we look forward to one day soon having you all back in all our stadiums.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners and the essential workers who are making such a difference at this time!”
