The general public were treated to plenty of festivities and activations when rugby marked its long anticipated return to Soweto with a massive double header as the Premier Social Cohesion Games – in a partnership between the Gauteng Provincial Government, the SA Rugby Union and Stadium Management SA (SMSA) – took place at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 23 June.

It was a return “home” for the Vodacom Blue Bulls as they took on Jukskei rivals, the Xerox Golden Lions, before the much-anticipated gruelling international fixture between the Springboks second team (South Africa A) and the French Barbarians.

The first treat was the Beer Garden alongside the monumental eastern side of Orlando Stadium before fans entered the bowl seating area to be entertained by a variety of music acts.
